Wildfire Update

Dear Campers,

Following the recent fire in the New Forest and this extended period of exceptionally dry weather, this is to give you an update.

While the immediate situation has improved, the risk of fire TO THE NEW FOREST AND SURROUNDING AREAS has not gone away. We therefore ask everyone to continue taking extra care, noting  some temporary restrictions which remain in place to help protect us all.

🔥 Cooking and fire safety

Please be reminded that fires and the burning of wood are absolutely prohibited at Red Shoot Camping Park at all times. This has always been our policy and remains strictly enforced.

Gas cooking appliances are permitted at Red Shoot Camping Park, in line with the latest Forestry England guidance. However we ask everyone to continue to be particularly careful and vigilant when using them.

The following restrictions remain strictly in place:

❌ No charcoal BBQs

❌ No disposable BBQs

❌ No campfires

❌ No fire pits

❌ No solid-fuel cooking equipment

❌ No liquid-fuel cooking equipment

❌ No other naked flames

Important: All permitted gas cooking appliances must be well off the ground and supervised at all times. Please also keep a bucket of water and/or a fire extinguisher close at hand.

🚭 Smoking and cigarette butts

If you smoke, please take extra care when disposing of cigarette butts.

All cigarettes must be completely extinguished before disposal. Cigarette butts must be placed in a suitable bin or designated cigarette-butt receptacle — never dropped on the ground, into vegetation, or anywhere around the Camping Park.

If there is no suitable receptacle nearby, extinguish your cigarette completely and carry the butt with you until you can dispose of it safely.

Do not leave it on the ground or attempt to hide it in grass, soil, hedges or other vegetation.

A single discarded cigarette can have very serious consequences.

⚠️ Anyone found discarding cigarette butts irresponsibly, including dropping them on the ground or into vegetation, will be required to leave the Camping Park immediately without refund.

This is a fire-safety requirement, not simply a request to keep the Camping Park tidy.

🚗 Getting to Red Shoot Camping Park

The immediate situation has improved and the roads and access to us are now much clearer.

We strongly recommend following our directions rather than relying on alternative routes suggested by your sat nav.

Make your way to the A338 Ringwood–Salisbury road from either direction and follow the brown tourist signs to us, which will bring you along Ellingham Drove. At the end of Ellingham Drove, you will go over a hump-back bridge. Turn left after this and, almost immediately, you will see the bottom of the road leading to us.

This road is marked with a 6ft 6in width restriction, but this will not affect access to the Camping Park and you do need to use this road to reach us
