Wildfire Update

Dear Campers,

This is to update you on the situation regarding the wildfire in the New Forest and to reassure you that Red Shoot Camping Park is open and operating as normal. We are welcoming arrivals as usual, and the park and its immediate surroundings are not currently affected by the fire. We have also been advised that there is no current threat to the park or to our ability to continue operating as normal.

The A338 and Ellingham Drove route to us remains open and unaffected by the fire. However, there is considerably more traffic on the local roads due to the closure of the A31, so please allow extra time for your journey and take particular care. If you are approaching from north of Ringwood, you will not be able to use the A31 as it remains closed. You will need to pick up the A338 from the Salisbury direction, and then follow the brown tourist signs along Ellingham Drove to reach the park. We are continuing to monitor the situation closely and will keep you informed should circumstances change.

Given the exceptionally dry conditions and the current fire situation, please be reminded that fires and the burning of wood are absolutely prohibited on the park at all times. This has been our policy for many years and remains strictly enforced.

In addition, until further notice, BBQs will only be permitted if they are gas-powered. We will no longer allow charcoal or other solid-fuel BBQs.

Whilst we appreciate that this may be disappointing, given the current conditions, we feel it would be irresponsible to continue allowing anything that could potentially compromise the safety of our guests, our staff or the surrounding New Forest. We trust you will understand and agree that protecting everyone and the environment around us has to come first.
